Implementing 7 pilot models to increase the value of rice production
In the morning of June 14, Mr. Lai Van Hoan, Provincial Party Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting of the Provincial People's Committee to make agreement on implementing pilot models to increase the value of rice production in the province.

At the meeting, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported the plan to implement 07 pilot models on improving rice production in order to develop large-scale commercial rice production, increase added value and improve the quality of rice production, income for rice producers; enhancing the role of agricultural cooperatives; building a collective brand towards the formation of a rice brand. The model is deployed in 9 communes of 6 districts: Dong Hung, Tien Hai, Kien Xuong, Vu Thu, Quynh Phu, Thai Thuy with a scale of over 120ha/model; implementation period from the 2021 crop; focusing on developing high-quality rice for domestic consumption towards export, producing seed rice, local specialty rice, organic rice combined with clam worm farming.

At the meeting, the contents of model implementation such as: zoning of production area, support mechanism, development of geographical indications; the cost, implementation time of model... were discussed and clarified by the delegate.
Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that, in the current rice production conditions, when the productivity reaches the ceiling in both spring and summer crops, in order to increase income for people, it is necessary to increase their income, enhance the value of rice through building large commodity production areas with geographical indications and trademarks, and expanding product consumption links. Agreeing to select and implement 7 pilot models to increase the value of rice production in the 2021 crop as proposed by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to In rural development, the districts will research and make the most of support policies for the models; In addition to the provincial support mechanisms, the districts base on local realities to develop appropriate and effective support policies.
