Investment promotion conference in Thai Binh province in Shenzhen city (China)

Within the framework of the investment promotion trip to the People’s Republic of China from 20-25 August, in the afternoon of 22 August in Shenzhen city, Guangdong province, China, the provincial delegation led by comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, coordinated with agencies and units to organize an investment promotion conference in Thai Binh province.

At the conference, representatives of the provincial leaders informed about the strengths, potentials, and opportunities for investment and business cooperation in Thai Binh, emphasizing the results of cooperation with China. Currently, FDI from China ranks 4^th in terms of the number of projects and 3^rd in terms of investment capital scale, including 20 projects with registered investment capital of about 494 million USD, accounting for 10% of total FDI of the province.

In 2023, the export turnover of the whole province reached 2.6 billion USD, in which export turnover to China reached 243 million USD, accounting for 9.2% of the export turnover of the whole province. Import turnover reached nearly 1.8 billion USD, in which import turnover from China reached 370 million USD, accounting for 21% of the import turnover of the whole province.

Thai Binh is currently a strategic location for investors who want to expand and develop production and business because the locality has a strong desire for socio-economic development. The locality also has a favorable geographical location, belonging to the key economic growth triangle in the North of Vietnam; the land area for industrial development is large, meeting the development demand of investors. In addition, Thai Binh Economic Zone is a special investment incentive area, with the highest investment incentives in accordance with the regulations of Vietnamese law. The human resources are abundant with a population of about 2 million people, in which over 1 million are of working age and hard-working, sociable, highly skilled workers are also one of the strengths of the province.

Through this investment promotion conference, Thai Binh wishes to cooperate and do business comprehensively, in many fields with all partners and investors of China in general, and Shenzhen city in particular. Promote the exchange and import and export of goods with strengths of both parties. Looking for investment cooperation opportunities, developing computer technology, telephone, automobile, high-tech agriculture, new energy, renewable energy, semiconductor chips...

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou, informed: Vietnam is currently a worthy destination for foreign investment, including Chinese investors, especially enterprises from Guangdong province. In recent years, the historic and strategic visits of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China in October 2022 and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam in December 2023. Most recently, the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to China from 18 - 20 August 2024 further affirmed that Vietnam - China relationship has developed strongly and achieved important results, opening up opportunities and prospects for cooperation in the fields of economics, investment and trade between both parties.

Highly appreciating the potentials, opportunities and outstanding achievements of Thai Binh in recent years, Vietnamese Consul General in Guangzhou affirmed that the investment promotion conference in Thai Binh in Shenzhen city further strengthened the trade relations between the two countries in general, and the two localities of Thai Binh - Guangdong in particular, bringing enterprises of both parties closer to each other; at the same time, it was an opportunity to find partners for business cooperation, making practical contributions to promoting economic, trade and investment relations between the parties.

At the investment promotion conference, the enterprises and investors of two countries were introduced to the investment and business environment and socio-economic overview, investment attraction orientation of Thai Binh; at the same time, they exchanged and introduced business activities and looked for cooperation opportunities. In addition, representatives of departments, branches, sectors and localities of the province also answered questions from potential Chinese enterprises that want to research and invest in Thai Binh.
