In recent years, Thai Binh city has rapidly been urbanized. In which, priority should be given to the areas of construction - traffic - urban planning and dealing with problems in urban development such as undergrounding, transportation, environment, waste water and garbage treatment. At the same time, coordinate the construction of e-government, promote administrative reform in association with the application of information technology; deploy the installation of a camera system on traffic axes, ensure social order and safety, minimize traffic accidents; organize the planting of green trees to create a green, clean, beautiful landscape ... contributing to the premise for the successful building of a smart city in the future.

On the roadmap of building commercial investment, Thai Binh city is concentrating on investing in building a synchronous transport system, connecting with the implementation of urban embellishment projects such as connecting roads and infrastructure of residential area, water supply and drainage systems, sidewalks, trees, and lighting have been gradually invested. The city has completed the city construction planning up to 2035, vision to 2050. In the past 5 years, 10 subdivision planning projects, 88 detailed planning projects have been formulated and agreed to complete for the implementation of construction projects of urban areas & new residential areas, and resettlement areas for urban embellishment and to create auctioned land funds such as urban areas of Hoang Dieu, Kien Giang, Hoang Van Thai, new Vu Phuc and Vu Dong urban areas meet the increasing needs of residents. In addition, key traffic routes connecting synchronously with major traffic axes in the province such as Le Quy Don, Vo Nguyen Giap, Tran Phu, Ky Dong streets have been upgraded, expanded, and promptly responded to the increase in urban traffic density; ensuring smooth and safe traffic, creating urban spatial connectivity, contributing to promoting socio-economic development. Previously, Thai Binh city in the northwest only stopped on Tran Thai Tong street, now the city has been expanded, connected with the main axis of bypass road S1 in Phu Xuan commune, Tan Binh commune, creating a modern & synchronous living space, with commercial streets, modern residential areas. To get that, the city has attracted resources from businesses investing in the construction of Ky Dong Avenue, extending the section from Tran Thu Do to the S1 bypass with a length of over 1.6km, a width of 45m, and the roadbed of each side is 10.5m wide, the median strip is 8m wide, and the sidewalk is 8m wide. The extended Ky Dong Boulevard connecting the city center with the Northwest development pole, with modern, synchronous Dragon urban area, worthy of the strong development of the city, being well matched to the development of the provinces and cities in the region. Thereby, promoting trade, foreign exchange with neighboring provinces, bringing into full play the potential development of the city center, changing the socio-economic face of Thai Binh city.
