Impressive results
The year 2019 was a milestone in the 10-year journey (2010 - 2019) of building a new countryside of the province with impressive results when 100% of communes met the standards of new countryside, 7/7 districts met the standards of new countryside and Thai Binh City completed the task of building new countryside.
Through the process of document appraisal, the results of actual survey of new countryside construction in districts, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien, Director, Chief of Central New Rural Coordination Office emphasized: Impression in building new countryside in Thai Binh, firstly was to create a high consensus among all strata of the people, thereby mobilizing the synergy and all resources to participate in building new countryside. Secondly, Thai Binh became the leading locality in the country in covering clean water to 100% of households, the proportion of people using clean water met the current requirements. This shows that the process of building new countryside is really towards the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for the people.
Looking back on the 10-year journey of building new countryside in the province, we can see great strength when the Party's will and people's hearts are united. If in 2010, when embarking on building new countryside, the rural infrastructure system was lacking, degraded and asynchronous; The rate of poor households was high with 9.91%, the per capita income was low with 13.55 million VND/year, up to now the rural infrastructure system has been invested in a synchronous, spacious, the economic life is greatly improved. To achieve that result, from 2011 up to now, the whole province has mobilized total resources to build new countryside (including cash, workdays, provincial cement, land, assets ...) estimated at 22,236 billion dong. From the mobilized capital, the whole province has concreted 1,275,51km of canals; built and upgraded 3,780,5 km in-field roads and 8,408.32 km of communal roads, village axes, level-1 bypass of the hamlet route; 277 pumping stations and culverts; invested in 23 new clean water supply stations, upgraded and expanded the scope of water supply at 34 stations; 207 junior high schools, primary schools and kindergartens; 1,069 communal and village cultural houses; 180 medical stations; 247 waste disposal complexes and incinerators; supported the construction and upgrading of over 6,100 houses for the meritorious and the poor; 100% of communes have been connected and used clean water ...
The spacious and synchronous infrastructure of electricity, road, school, and station has created favorable conditions for people to trade, produce, promote socio-economic development. By the end of 2019, per capita income in rural areas was estimated at 45,648 million VND, the rate of poor households was 2.66%. In 2020, it is expected that the rate of poor households in the province will decrease to 2.06%.
Comprehensive change
Today's changes in the rice-field homeland are not only reflected in the appearance of spacious and synchronous facilities, dramatic improvement of people's lives, but also through the rich and diverse cultural and spiritual life. Over the past years, along with the effort and asset contribution to the construction of rural infrastructure, the people of all strata in the province have stepped up cultural and art activities, sports, to contribute to the conservation, preservation, promote traditional cultural values, step by step build a healthy, progressive cultural environment, ensure social order and security. Currently, the whole province has 1,814/1,814 villages (reaching the rate of 100%) with cultural houses and sports facilities meeting the standards of new countryside with facilities to meet the requirements for meetings, conferences and shows, cultural and art contests of the localities. Cultural, art, physical training and sports movements in localities also attracted 54.8% of the rural population, of which 35% of people participating in regular physical exercises and sports. In addition, the province also established over 3,000 clubs with more than 60 different types such as traditional Chèo art club, folk art club, folk dance club, sports club ... The activities of the clubs attracted a large number of the masses to participate, becoming the core force in local cultural, art and physical activities.

Every afternoon or early morning, all over the streets and villages of Bach Thuan commune (Vu Thu), it is not difficult to see the image of people from old to young participating in physical exercise, sports and health training.
Mr. Tran Van Cuong in Trung Hoa village shared: Bach Thuan commune with the characteristics of low-lying terrain, dense system of ponds and lakes, most of the roads in the residential area are narrow, located between two deep ponds. Previously, the travel was difficult. When building the new countryside, with the support of all levels, our people contribute funds to harden rural roads. Nowadays, there are not only beautiful roads, many families with favorable conditions in the village also donate money to buy benches, install electricity and lighting to serve people to travel smoothly. In the afternoon, the teenagers go to the village cultural house to play football and practice volleyball while the elderly go walking to improve their health.
It has become a habit, after the daily dinner, the women of An Dong commune (Quynh Phu) invite each other to practice dancing. Ms. Dao Thi Loi, manager of An Dong Social Dance Club, said: The club has been established from June 2020 to now, but attracts a large number of women at the age of 27-70. Simple, easy-to-learn and easy-to-dance folk dances are integrated through fun songs, songs expressing love for the homeland, the country, suitable for various ages. By doing exercise, it not only helps people improve their health, mental refreshment, dispel fatigue after a busy working day, but also contributes to building a rich, healthy and exciting cultural life in new countryside.
After 10 years of building the new countryside, Thai Binh rice countryside has grown impressively, obtained great achievements, comprehensively, fundamentally changed the rural appearance. This is an important foundation for Thai Binh province to continue to walk firmly on the path of building advanced new countryside and model new countryside in the coming years.
