Vu Thu: Industry, handicraft has become a key economic sector
With involvement, right direction and drastic and effective solutions, in recent years, the industry - handicraft have increasingly occupied a high proportion in the economic structure, gradually becoming the key economic sector of Vu Thu district. There are many policies to attract investment and make good use of resources for craft village development, which is the direction that Vu Thu district is taking to develop the industrial and handicraft economy.
Over the years, Vu Thu has attracted 35 projects into the area with a total investment of nearly 3,500 billion VND.
Vu Hoi is one of the top communes of Vu Thu district in the development of industry - handicraft. Mr. Tran Doanh Lieu, Secretary of the Commune’s Party Committee said: Implementing Resolution No. 01 of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Party on improving the investment and business environment, over the past years, the Party Committee and commune authorities were always interested in leading, directing and well implementing the investment attraction, creating favorable conditions for businesses operating in Vu Hoi industrial cluster with an area of 8.3 ha. At the same time, the commune paid attention to the development of local traditional professions through activities to support people to borrow capital for production investment and promote traditional products and specialties. Up to now, the commune has had 16 enterprises and 230 production establishments in 17 industries of industry - handicraft, including 51 establishments of food production, processing and milling; 42 noodle and cake establishments; 30 traditional wine production units; 25 furniture manufacturers; 20 tofu units; 15 mechanical manufacturing units ... attracting thousands of workers. In recent years, 3 more projects applying for investment in the commune have been approved and put into production and business. Occupations and craft villages continue to be maintained and developed; products such as vermicelli, cakes, noodles, sausages; aluminum, bronze and mechanical products still retain their brand names in the market. The total production value of industry - handicraft in the period 2015 - 2020 is estimated at 751 billion VND, an average increase of 12.86% / year. Industry – handicraft have become the key economic sector of the commune with the proportion of 50.7%, agriculture only accounts for 13.8% of the local economic structure.
Nguyen Xa is one of the localities interested in developing industry and handicraft. Mr. Pham Van Luong, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: Fully grasp the spirit of the Resolution of the Congress of the Party Committee of the commune and the policy on developing the profession & trade villages, over the years, the party committee, the commune authority have been interested in developing carpentry , traditional bamboo and rattan knitting profession, and investment in the construction of road infrastructure, improving the grid system to attract investment in the commune’s industrial cluster (in Thai hamlet). At present, the industrial cluster has been filled with 10 enterprises, production and business establishments in the field of fine art furniture, garment, creating jobs for more than 1,000 workers. Up to now, the whole commune has had 659 households (accounting for 30.8% of households in the commune) and 2,536 labors engaged in industrial and handicraft production. The production value of industry - handicraft from 2016 - 2020 of Nguyen Xa reach over 910 billion VND, accounting for 66.32% of the economic structure. Industry - Handicraft are the key economic sector contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality in recent years.
Vu Thu has the advantage of being adjacent to Thai Binh city, large land fund, convenient transportation, attracting businesses to invest; the labor force in the district is plentiful; There are many effective craft villages. Mr. Lai Truong Son, Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee said: Making full use of this advantage, the district deployed early and synchronously many solutions to develop industry and handicraft. In the spirit of Resolution No. 01 of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Committee of the Party, the District Party Committee, the People's Committee of Vu Thu district issued many documents leading and directing branches, units and localities from the district to the grassroots level to be interested in industrial - handicraft; in particular, cutting cumbersome procedures, creating favorable conditions for businesses to carry out procedures for land, site clearance, attracting human resources and capital. Every year, the district organizes many meetings, listening and solving difficulties for businesses, encouraging enterprises to expand investment in production and improve product quality. The district concentrates investment resources to perfect the technical infrastructure system in 7/7 industrial clusters. The branches and localities focus on promoting and promoting investment in filling industrial clusters, with priority given to the selection of clean, modern, smokeless industries and employing a lot of labor. For traditional craft villages, the district always gives priority to mechanisms and policies to support and solve problems of production and business site planning, vocational training, environmental treatment, maintenance of traditional occupations and importing new jobs...
With the attention of the district and localities, up to now, the whole district has had 365 enterprises, increasing by 150 enterprises compared to 2015; Industry and handicraft sector attracts over 20,000 workers with an income of 3.5-7 million VND/person/month. In the past 5 years, there were 35 investment projects in the district approved by the Provincial People's Committee with a total investment of nearly 3,500 billion VND; of which 22 projects went into production and business attracting nearly 9,400 workers. The district had 7 industrial clusters of 211 ha, of which 3 industrial clusters were filled; 2 locations of industrial detailed planning were approved. The district maintained 5 traditional craft villages (under new regulations) that operated effectively such as embroidery in Minh Lang commune, handicrafts in Nguyen Xa commune, and food processing in Thanh Huong (Dong Thanh commune)...
With the participation of the party committees and authorities from district to grassroots level, the total production value of industry and handicraft of Vu Thu in the period 2015 - 2020 was estimated at 13,969.8 billion VND, accounting for 50.2% of the economic structure of the district. The average growth rate of industry - handicraft was 17.45% / year. This was the driving force for the district to continue to have many interested policies, right direction to develop industry – handcraft to really become a key economic sector in the coming years.
